GREENLINE AND STARBOARD MAKING WAVES AT THE MALFUNCTION
Wednesday, 16 February 2011

Stand Up Paddle boards, you see them everywhere, out the back picking up swells long before they become waves, gliding along rivers and estuaries, advertising in all the surf magazines and at all the major longboard events in Australia.

Since the Malfunction first made room available in the program for a couple of heats, the SUPs have grown into a significant part of the event with both surfing and racing divisions for pro’s and amateurs.

The boys from Auswind who are travelling the Australia’s East Coast all summer doing demos will be sponsoring the Starboard SUP Racing. There is a pro division with prize money up for grabs and an amateur division, all to be raced in the tranquil waters of Cudgen Creek.

Greenline Paddle Surf who have sponsored the SUPs for the last 3 years are back again and backing the surfing section. For the first time the SUP surfing will feature a pro division plus amateur and woman’s divisions for those that just want to have fun.

For those that may be new to SUPs there will be displays of various boards and equipment as well as demonstrations for those wishing to try out a SUP, during the Malfunction Surf Festival.

With so much on offer the Malfunction Surf Festival is an event not to be missed.
