SACRE bleu! A Frenchman wins the Pipe Masters! C’est magnifique!
In fact, Jeremy Flores’s remarkable victory over Aussie Kieren Perrow in the final of the Billabong Pipeline Masters in Memory of Andy Irons was not only a maiden world tour title for him, it was the first time a European had won a tour event. Jeremy puts his name in the record books, but I’m sure the victory was much more of a personal triumph for a young guy who, until now, had never quite lived up to expectations.
I’ve known Jeremy and his dad Patrick since Jeremy was a tiny little grom ripping into the shores at Capbreton while Patrick paced the beach yelling instructions.
