CRESCENT HEAD MALIBU CLASSIC
Crescent Head, NSW
27-29 May 2010

Held within the Dhungutti land at Crescent Head since 1989 (initiated with help from the Scotts’ Loggerheads) the Classic is definitely one of the most popular amateur comps on the east coast and it’s easy to see why. Famous for its family feel and mucho camaraderie, Crescent is not about chasing trophies - no dog eat dog, not here!

From around Oz and as far afield as California and NZ they came, and with the comp scaled back from five to three days this year it ran very smoothly. The waves were a juicy three to four feet, and (unusually I might add) the women’s divisions and the groms snagged some of the best conditions – not wasted on Melissa Combo and Jodie Barsby, one and two in the Opens.

What a classic comp! From the groms to the guns like Harley Ingleby and Paul Scholten through to the Over 65s, all appreciate the organisers’ philosophy: “Its all about having fun”.

Thanks guys, keep it up for another 21 years!
