YALLINGUP MALIBU CLASSIC
Yallingup, WA
5-6 December 2009

The 25th annual Classic was held on the same weekend as The Eddie, and luckily for us here in the West we didn't have to deal with the massive waves Waimea copped. Half a world away Huey produced beautiful clean 2-3ft peaks to play on, much to the relief of the competitors, as Yallingup (the place of love) quite often dishes up big stuff for just such an occasion (just ask any Australian Titles competitors from '01 and '05).

The Indian Ocean Longboard Club was in the saddle this year, taking the reins from the previous organisers (Bob Monkman and Libby and Dave Bulbeck) and as always it ran like clockwork.

Winners? Yes we were all winners! The 25th year was truly a milestone for this event and for the local community that runs, sponsors, and supports it, and receives the bikkies it raises. Since it's inception, the Yall Classic has raised over $200,000 which has all gone back into local community projects - a beautiful circle and a winning formula however you look at it.

A big thanks to all the work crew and Dave Ellis for the amazing trophies, and especially to Huey for delivering to us just what we deserved. Hope to see you here in 2010. Aloha.
