HONOLUA SURF CO WELCOMES BONGA PERKINS TO THE TEAM

Honolua Surf Company and Xcel Wetsuits are proud to welcome Bonga Perkins to the team. As a world champion longboarder who never finished lower than fifth place in the international rankings, Bonga has earned respect as a superb Hawaiian boardrider, carving out a special place for himself in the world’s heaviest lineups: Haleiwa, Pipeline, Backdoor and Sunset Beach.

“Perkins is not only a great surfer, but he has also become a great representative for Honolua Surf Co,” says Huy Houng, Retail Marketing Manager for Honolua Surf. “Bonga provides an authenticity that is part of Honolua’s whole style. He reflects our brand image perfectly.”

Longboard, shortboard, stand-up paddle, paddleboard, canoe racing and surfing, tandem-riding, ancient Hot Curls in 12-foot Sunset - Bonga does it all and in most cases does it best. All with that disarming combination of intensity and humility that characterizes Hawaiian surfing at its essence.

"I am really happy to be part of Honolua as I have seen in the last couple years the change and the direction that Honolua is heading. I feel like Honolua is a very good fit for me and I’m looking forward for what is to come."

And as for his future, consider this: As the final leg in the OXBOW ASP World Longboard Tour comes to California this November 5th to 9th, a Longboard Champion will be crowned. Bonga Perkins current 3rd place position puts him clearly within striking distance of winning this year’s Longboard World Title.
